1
Change the batteries
Slide the cover off the back of the remote. Put in two new batteries, matching the plus and minus signs. Even batteries that seem fine can be too weak. This fixes most remote problems.
2
Check where the stick is
If the stick is behind the TV, the signal can be weak. Use the short extender cable from the box, so the stick hangs away from the TV.
3
Unplug the stick
Pull the power cable from the wall outlet. Wait one full minute. Plug it back in, and wait for the Home screen to appear.
4
Pair the remote again
Hold the Home button on the remote for about 15 seconds. Stay close to the TV. Then wait a minute and try pressing a button.
5
Use your phone as a remote
If it still does not respond, install the free Amazon Fire TV app on your phone. Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi as your stick, and sign in. The app works as a remote.
6
Buy a replacement
If nothing helps, the remote may be worn out. Replacements are not expensive. Check that the new one works with your exact Fire TV model.
