Fire TV Sticks have little space. When it runs out, apps crash and everything slows down. Here is how to make room safely.
1

Press the Home button

On your Fire TV remote, find the button with a small picture of a house. Press it once. The main Fire TV screen appears. If you ever feel lost, this button always brings you back here.
2

Open Settings

Press the right side of the round ring on your remote until you reach the small gear picture on the top row. Then press the middle of the ring. This middle button is called Select, and it works like “OK”.
3

Open My Fire TV

Press the arrows on the ring to find My Fire TV, then press Select. On some newer software, this is called Device & Software. Both names lead to the same place.
4

Open About

Press the down arrow until About is highlighted. Highlighted means it looks brighter than the others. Then press Select.
5

Open Storage

Press the down arrow to Storage. You can read how much space is free on the right side. You want at least 1 GB free.
6

Open Downloader

Press Home, hold it down and choose Apps, then open Downloader. Move to Files on the left, and press Select.
7

Delete old installer files

You may see files that end in .apk. These are old installers, and you no longer need them. Highlight one, press the Menu button with three lines, and choose Delete.
8

Press the Home button

On your Fire TV remote, find the button with a small picture of a house. Press it once. The main Fire TV screen appears. If you ever feel lost, this button always brings you back here.
9

Open Settings

Press the right side of the round ring on your remote until you reach the small gear picture on the top row. Then press the middle of the ring. This middle button is called Select, and it works like “OK”.
10

Open Applications

In Settings, press the arrows to find Applications, and press Select. This is the list of everything installed on your Fire TV.
11

Open Manage Installed Applications

Press the down arrow to reach Manage Installed Applications, then press Select. Wait a few seconds for the list to appear, as it can be slow.
12

Remove apps you do not use

Look through the list. If you have not opened an app in months, press Select on it, then choose Uninstall. Games are usually the largest. You can always get a free app back later.
13

Restart the stick

Hold down the Select button and the Play/Pause button together for about five seconds. The stick restarts. Check the Storage screen once it is back on.
