1
Restart your internet box
Unplug your internet box from the wall. Count to 30. Plug it back in. Wait about three minutes, until its lights settle, then try again. This fixes more problems than you might expect.
2
Restart your TV or device
Unplug your TV or streaming device from the wall. Wait one full minute. Plug it back in. Using the remote’s power button often only puts it to sleep.
3
Forget and rejoin the network
In your device’s Network settings, choose your Wi-Fi, then Forget. Then choose it again, and retype your password.
4
Move your internet box
Bring it into the open, away from closets, metal, microwaves and cordless phones. The closer to your TV, the better.
5
Move your device
If your stick sits directly behind the TV, use the short extender cable to move it away.
6
Try the other Wi-Fi band
If you have two networks, try the other one. 5 GHz is faster when you are close. 2.4 GHz reaches further.
7
Use a cable
A wired connection eliminates Wi-Fi problems altogether. Our Ethernet guide explains what you need.
8
Call your internet company
If other devices drop too, the box may be failing. Your internet company can check it, and may replace it.
