Inexpensive boxes vary a lot in quality. These few changes can make a modest box feel better on live TV.
Start
Plug in a network cable
Most boxes have a socket for an Ethernet cable. Connect it to your internet box. Many boxes have weak Wi-Fi, so this one change often solves the freezing.
Restart the box
Unplug the power cable for a full minute, then plug it back in. Do this about once a week, as these boxes have little memory.
Remove apps you do not use
Open Settings, then Apps. Choose an app you never use, then Uninstall. Some preinstalled apps cannot be removed. That is fine, so leave those.
Try the other decoder
A decoder is the part that turns the stream into a picture. In your TV app’s settings, find Decoder. If you see a black picture or green squares, switch between Hardware and Software, then test again.
Be careful with “fully loaded” boxes
Avoid boxes sold with free channels already installed. They can be a legal and security risk, and they often stop working without warning.
Final step
Still need help?
That is completely fine. If you tell us your box’s model, we can suggest specific settings. Message us on WhatsApp or by email, any day from 6 AM to 11 PM Eastern Time. Tell us your device and what you see on the screen. A photo of the TV screen helps a lot.
