The name sounds technical, but this is simple and safe. It only reveals a hidden menu, and you need to do it just once.

Start

Press the Home button

On your Fire TV remote, find the button with a small picture of a house. Press it once. The main Fire TV screen appears. If you ever feel lost, this button always brings you back here.

Open Settings

Press the right side of the round ring on your remote until you reach the small gear picture on the top row. Then press the middle of the ring. This middle button is called Select, and it works like “OK”.

Open My Fire TV

Press the arrows on the ring to find My Fire TV, then press Select. On some newer software, this is called Device & Software. Both names lead to the same place.

Look for Developer Options

Look through the list. If you already see Developer Options, you are finished, as some newer sticks show it from the start. If you do not see it, continue with the next step.

Open About

Press the down arrow until About is highlighted. Highlighted means it looks brighter than the others. Then press Select.

Highlight your device’s name

The first line on this screen shows your device’s name, such as Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Make sure this first line is highlighted, meaning it looks brighter than the rest.

Press Select seven times

Press the middle button of the ring seven times, at a steady pace, about one press each second. A small message at the bottom of the screen counts down, then says you are now a developer.

Press the Back button

Find the button with a curved arrow pointing left, on your remote. Press it once to go back one screen. Nothing is lost or changed when you do this.

Check that it appeared

You should now see Developer Options in the list. That is all. If it did not appear, restart the stick from the same list, then try the seven presses again.

Final step

Still need help?

That is completely fine. If it never appears, your stick may use Vega OS, which works differently. Message us on WhatsApp or by email, any day from 6 AM to 11 PM Eastern Time. Tell us your device and what you see on the screen. A photo of the TV screen helps a lot.
