A long channel list can include content you do not want children to see. Most apps let you lock it in a few minutes.

Start

Open your app’s settings

Open your TV app, then look for Settings, usually a gear picture.

Find Parental Control

Look for Parental Control, Lock or PIN. In some apps, it is called Child Lock.

Create a PIN

Choose a four-digit number. Do not use one that a child could guess, such as a birth year. Avoid the one on your bank card.

Write it down

Keep the number somewhere safe. If you forget it, you may have to reinstall the app.

Choose what to lock

Choose the groups to lock or hide, such as adult channels. Pressing Select usually adds or removes a lock.

Test it

Go back and try to open a locked channel. It should ask for your PIN.

Final step

Repeat on other TVs

Controls usually work only on that device. Set them up on each TV and tablet children use.
