Captions show the spoken words on the screen. Not all channels have them, and live TV is the least likely to offer them.
Start
Try inside your app first
While watching, press OK or the Menu button. Look for a speech bubble, the letters CC or the word Subtitles. Select it, and choose a language.
Press the Home button
Find the button with a small picture of a house on your remote, and press it. The main screen appears. This button always brings you back if you feel lost.
Open Settings
Press up until you reach the small gear picture at the top of the screen, and press the OK button. On some TVs, it is on the far right. You can also press the gear button if your remote has one.
Open Accessibility
Choose System or Device Preferences, then Accessibility. It may take a little searching, since TV makers arrange menus differently.
Open Captions
Choose Captions, and turn them on.
Change the size
Choose Text Scale or Size, then choose Large. You can pick colours here, too. White text on a black background is usually the easiest to read.
Final step
Test it
Go back to your app and open a movie. Remember that apps can use their own caption settings, so you may need to turn them on in the app as well.
