A poor picture can come from the channel, your device or your TV. Here are the checks that usually help most.

Start

Check the channel version

Many channels come in SD, HD and 4K. Look for the HD version. 4K is available only on Premium, on supported channels.

Try other channels

Some programs are broadcast at low quality. If one channel is poor and others look good, the source is probably the cause.

Check your connection

A slow connection can force a lower quality. Run a speed test beside the TV in the evening.

Check your device’s resolution

In your device’s display settings, the resolution should be Auto or match your TV.

Check your HDMI cable

An old cable can limit your picture, particularly with 4K. Try the cable that came with your device.

Final step

Check your TV’s picture mode

Open your TV’s picture settings, and try Movie or Filmmaker mode. Pick what looks best to you.
