VLC has many options, but you need only a handful. Here is what to use.
Start
Show the channel list
Press Ctrl and L together. The list appears. Double-click any channel to watch it. Press the same keys again to hide the list.
Fill the screen
Double-click the picture, or press the F key. Press Esc to return to the normal window.
Change the volume
Hold Ctrl and press the up or down arrow. The volume is also shown at the bottom right of the window.
Pause
Press the space bar. Press it again to continue. On live TV, pausing may jump you back to live afterwards.
Turn on subtitles
Click Subtitle at the top of the window, then Sub Track. Choose a language if one is listed. Many live channels do not have one.
Final step
Keep your link handy
VLC does not always remember your list. To save it, click Media, then Save Playlist to File, and save it to your desktop. Keep this file private, as it contains your login.
