Captions show the words on the screen, which is a big help for many viewers. Not every channel has them, particularly on live TV.
Start
Try the app first
While a program plays, press the Menu button with three lines, or press Select to show the controls. Look for a speech bubble, the letters CC or the word Subtitles.
Choose a language
Select it, then choose a language. If the list is empty, that channel or movie does not have subtitles. Try another program to check.
Press the Home button
On your Fire TV remote, find the button with a small picture of a house. Press it once. The main Fire TV screen appears. If you ever feel lost, this button always brings you back here.
Open Settings
Press the right side of the round ring on your remote until you reach the small gear picture on the top row. Then press the middle of the ring. This middle button is called Select, and it works like “OK”.
Open Accessibility
Press the arrows to find Accessibility, and press Select. This area holds settings that make the TV easier to see and hear.
Open Captions
Choose Captions and turn them on. These settings work in many apps, although some IPTV players use only their own.
Make the text larger
Still in Captions, look for Text Size. Choose Large. You can also change the colours for better contrast. White text on a black background is often the easiest to read.
Final step
Still need help?
That is completely fine. Captions depend on what the channel sends, so some may never have them. Message us on WhatsApp or by email, any day from 6 AM to 11 PM Eastern Time. Tell us your device and what you see on the screen. A photo of the TV screen helps a lot.
