Your phone can type for you, which makes long addresses far easier. It also works as a spare remote.
Start
Join the same Wi-Fi
Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV or stick. If they are on different networks, this will not work.
Install the right app
For a Fire TV, install the Amazon Fire TV app from your phone’s store. For a Google TV, install the Google TV app. Both are free.
Open the app
Open it and sign in with the same account as your TV. That is your Amazon account for a Fire TV, or your Google account for a Google TV.
Choose your TV
Tap the name of your TV or stick in the list.
Enter the code
A code appears on your TV screen. Type it into your phone. You only do this once.
Use the remote
Your phone now shows a remote. Touch and slide on the screen to move around, and tap in the middle to select.
Final step
Use the keyboard
When a box appears on the TV, tap the keyboard picture on your phone. Now you can type, or paste what you copied from your email.
